Highly convincing investment scams are on the increase. Aberdeen Investments have recently become aware of fraudsters using an unaffiliated company, "Aberdeen Capital" and Aberdeen Group branding in WhatsApp groups aimed at defrauding individuals in the Netherlands.
We have been made aware of a WhatsApp groups named AplhaInvest Collective-77 and AEX raketclub168 promoting unregulated investment schemes and a mobile app, AIFinAber.
Aberdeen Investments together with our Regulators and law enforcement bodies take action to take down known fraudulent activity. It is, however, possible that the fraudsters will attempt to create further attempts to defraud individuals through WhatsApp and mobile apps. It is therefore important to state:
- Aberdeen Investments and other Aberdeen Group companies do not conduct business through WhatsApp groups
- Aberdeen Investments does not provide investment business and services to natural persons in the Netherlands
- Aberdeen Investments does not solicit business through mobile apps, nor has made a mobile app available to individual investors
Any investment advertisements issued by Aberdeen Investments will direct clients to our website www.aberdeeninvestments.com. Please also be wary of unsolicited calls, emails or letters offering unusually profitable investment opportunities. Always go to official sources for information, such as home pages of companies purporting to offer the investment and avoid following links embedded in unsolicited and informal communications.
Exercise extra caution when it sounds too good to be true. The chances are, that it probably is.
